Melissa McCardle, a resident of Massapequa Park, is a candidate for Town of Oyster Bay Council. Melissa has been serving her community as the Board of Education Liaison for the PTA, Assistant Pack Leader for the Cub Scouts and Treasurer of the South Bay Democratic Club. She is a Democratic Committee member who has volunteered on numerous campaigns over the past few years.
As a Social Worker for more than twenty years, Melissa has spent her career serving others, as a therapist and counselor, through community advocacy and teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Melissa has worked in private practice, served as an administrator for the North Shore LIJ Health System and has earned the highest academic rank of Full Professor in her current position at Molloy College.
Melissa attended Hofstra University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, New York University where she earned her Master of Social Work degree, and CUNY Hunter where she earned her Ph.D. in Social Welfare. As a Professor, Melissa has co-authored several articles and conducted multiple national, state and local presentations on her work with individuals and communities. She has secured grant funding for several research projects.
Melissa’s experience demonstrates her skills in business management, leadership, and developing interpersonal relationships. Melissa is a proud mother and wife whose family is her biggest inspiration to create a positive change through honest and ethical leadership in the Town of Oyster Bay.
